Boom!

And with the end of NPI, my total word count = 20,251

Now, I’m glad that I managed to get over 20k words in 31 days (including the aforementioned two-day weekend getaway) but ultimately, I’m ecstatic that I’ve managed to actually get this far into my book. At the end of February I had began a few draft beginnings of Ran Red, but ultimately was not happy with any of them. Then came the time constraint to do something constructive and… well it started happening.

That’s my biggest happy-factor today. That I did it, that I began a book and did more than just that.

I will inevitably do a post entailing everything I have thought and experienced throughout Nick’s (March) Novel Push Initiative. But for now, thank you everyone who gave me support, and thank you to my wife for putting up with this random, suddenly happening daily deadline and all the moods that followed.

Oh and again, like Nick, it’s about time I hit 2k+ words for a day!

NPI: 827

Good writing session today. I began a new chapter and got right into one of the two-sides of the murky gray line running through my story. Just more divulgence of truths between characters that know, and don’t know what has been happening.

Current NPI WC total: 18,075

All in all, that’s not bad considering I thought I was done at around the three-hundred mark, but no no, my little mind went on.

Let us see if tomorrow, I can’t break 20k before the March NPI is up! (On my birthday as well!)

It’s a Sunday, and we got back from Ocean Shores today, so the low count is no surprise. I basically cleaned up the last chapter so, as I move into the next, I have a clearer idea of what is to take place.

Nothing particularly ground breaking, but enough to provide some more depth and background to the overall history of my universe.

Tomorrow is my actual Anniversary (4 yrz don’t ya know) so we’ll see how much I get done.

More on the same scene. I also built upon the run-up to the ‘middle’ portion of my book – the complication if you will, and finished a chapter.

I’m under the 20k mark and already I’ve hit the middle act, I’m not sure if that’s good, bad, or ugly, but considering I will no doubt draft and re-draft my first… draft, I’m not concerned.

Exciting time here in Ocean Shoes, so off I go.

Update on the previous scene’s dialogue and the creation of a second, and third scene of heavy dialogue. I feel like Quentin Tarantino sometimes, what with all the efing and jefing (swearing) and quick back and forth-ing. Anywho, a good creative process today.

Tomorrow, I begin a mini-getaway to celebrate my birthday and anniversary, so expect low daily word counts as I’ll be putting Ran Red on the back-burner for two days (well, maybe until the end of the month if you include my actual anniversary on Monday, and birthday on Tuesday – but we’ll see.)
